BIOGRAPHY
John is an experienced writer, director and producer, and working in television, theatre and the creative arts, having studied as a theatrical performer and creative practitioner at Rose Bruford College in London, and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
John’s career began as a junior researcher in television, before rapidly progressing to researcher, and onwards to becoming a producer, director, scriptwriter, presenter and performer in his own right, seeing success in producing feature segments in factual television, as well as producing and directing plays, musicals and live performances across the UK.
With a constant drive to learn and build, John consistently immerses himself in all roles within the television and theatre industries, actively building experience in most roles both behind and in front of the camera, as well as backstage or onstage, in order to build a fundamental understanding of each role’s nuances. John believes this is crucial to be able to empathise with the entire production workflow and allow him to effectively collaborate and communicate with his peers and ultimately build high production values as well as delivering rich nuanced results.
John is an experienced camera operator, self-shooter, sound and lighting engineer, editor and production coordinator and more – able to lend his experience to whatever is needed to build an outstanding final product.
Recently, John has worked extensively in XR and Virtual Production as a content producer, director and supporting prestigious brands including Samsung, Verizon, Tottenham Hotspur FC, Warwick Business School and the University of Michigan.
Alongside this, John has become a familiar face for the SmartStage XR brand as a presenter, content producer and speaker at trade shows worldwide.
Whereas John has a deep love and appreciation for fiction, fantasy and drama, John’s storytelling focuses on highlighting and respecting real-life stories, believing that honesty and truth is often not dependant on creative writing, but imaginative capturing of true human experience and emotion.
John holds a particular passion in telling the story of individuals and cultures through the food, drink and environment that surrounds their life experience, and holds a love of travelling worldwide to immerse himself in cultures and opinions that differ to his own.
