BIOGRAPHY

Derek is a well known TV personality Socialite and Published Book Author.  He has been a professional scriptwriter and has written speeches for some of the UK’s leading politicians and business leaders. He has appeared on Television and Radio for more than 20 years. Laud’s appearances have included some flagship programmes.  He has appeared alongside leading actors and actresses. These include the American writer, producer, director and actor Rob Lowe and the singer and songwriter and actress Bette Midler.

He attended the Weber Douglas Academy in South Kensington in London,  and the University of Oxford (Pembroke college) and the University of Cambridge (Peterhouse), where he studied Theology and philosophy.

Derek’s significant public recognition came into view during his successful 11 week run on the reality TV show ‘Big Brother” in 2005. Laud had already achieved some TV exposure before that period of time and appeared in commercials and did voice overs.

Derek has appeared on the Graham Norton Show, Celebrity ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’, BBC Question Time, The Alan Titchmarsh show and played alongside Guy Ritchie’s mother, Lady Amber Leighton, in ‘Ladette to Lady’.

When Laud is not active in the arts he has an established business career in Banking and finance. He has written for the Financial Times, The Times. The Guardian, the Mail on Sunday and various other leading titles. He was cast in the role for a new adaptation of ‘Love thy neighbour’, but due to various circumstances decided not to proceed with this offer.

He is interested in the power of oratory, the countryside and silence. He holds various degrees including an MA in History and Politics.
