BIOGRAPHY

Bill Bristow is a writer, film director and producer with a very wide experience and expertise across the whole spectrum of the filmmaking process in Britain, Ireland, Hollywood and Spain.  Following the production of a student short film, The Swan, in London he moved to Los Angeles in 1981 both to study film and work as a set co-ordinator.  He also performed several other production roles throughout much of that decade.  This included performing as Rutger Hauer’s stand in on the movie, The Hitcher, thereby embarking on a significant period of collaboration with the famous Dutch Actor.  As an example, Bill’s documentary about a homeless man in LA, Who Are They? in 1988 was exec produced by Rutger and Whoopi Goldberg for HBO.  Bill also produced and directed Behind the Scenes, featuring various movie celebrities, between 1988 and 1990, for Umbrella Head Productions.

In 1990, Bill moved to Spain to co-author his father’s MI6 memoir, The Game of Moles, published by Little Brown.  In 1994, he set up Locations Spain Ltd.  The company produced brochures and commercials for travel, fashion, Nissan, Jaguar, Toyota, Shell, BP, BMW.

They worked in Spain, France. The US. Morocco, Germany. UK. Portugal and Ireland.  Following the co-produced of four dance scenes for a Bollywood production in Ireland and Spain, in 2017, Bill established Bristow Film and Media with veteran former journalist and script writer Roger Cottrell.  Based on the Isle of Wight this has both performed commissioned work, adapting novels for the screen and has a significant portfolio of original work ranging from drama to documentaries.

In 2014 Bill was awarded a BA from Ashely University in California.
